The Digitalisation of the Water Sector Call for Proposals aims to support the development and demonstration of innovative digital solutions to improve water sustainability, resilience, and efficiency across Europe and Canada.
The focus areas, of the programme include addressing challenges related to water sustainability and water resilience, improving water quality, strengthening sanitation systems, enhancing wastewater treatment, reducing pollution, improving predictive maintenance, enabling advanced leak detection, optimising operational efficiency, supporting resource management, and promoting long-term planning for water systems. It also includes the use of cutting-edge technologies and space-based data to improve monitoring, enforcement, and service delivery in water and sanitation systems.
The programme responds to global challenges such as population growth, climate change, infrastructure stress, water scarcity, and water pollution. It aims to support European industry in developing pre-operational services that enhance water management and ensure long-term environmental sustainability and resilience.
The call focuses on studying, developing, and demonstrating innovative services that leverage advanced technologies to improve water and sanitation operations. These solutions are expected to deliver cost savings, better service delivery, and improved resource efficiency for water operators and management authorities.
Eligible proposals must address water sustainability and water resilience challenges. Applicants may either use predefined use cases or propose new areas of interest, provided they include customer involvement and demonstrate clear business potential, technical feasibility, and a credible commercial plan supported by customer engagement and market analysis.
The programme offers zero-equity funding along with technical and commercial guidance, access to partner networks, and ESA brand support. Eligible applicants must be based in participating countries including several European nations along with Canada.
