Deadline Date: October 05, 2026
The Sustainable Heritage Restoration and Revitalisation is seeking applications to support the protection, restoration, and adaptive reuse of cultural heritage sites while promoting community participation and sustainable cultural development.
The focus areas, of the programme include increasing participation, sustainability, and diversity in arts, culture, and heritage; promoting creative placemaking and participatory planning; engaging local communities, cultural operators, and stakeholders in heritage protection and management; strengthening environmental responsibility, cultural meaning, social inclusion, and economic benefits; supporting artistic creation, mobility, and international exchanges; and improving access to culture with special attention to women, young people, minorities, and vulnerable groups.
The programme also addresses gaps in heritage restoration and management, including limited cooperation among stakeholders, weak integration of heritage into development planning, and low community involvement. It promotes the sustainable restoration, revitalisation, and management of national cultural heritage sites, UNESCO World Heritage-related sites managed by site authorities, and heritage linked to national minority or ethnic groups where benefits to these communities are demonstrated.
Projects under this call must go beyond physical restoration and include adaptive reuse of heritage sites. This approach combines conservation with modern functions such as cultural programming, community use, and local enterprise. It aims to ensure that restored sites serve the needs of residents, artists, businesses, and cultural institutions while supporting long-term sustainability, diversity, and active community participation.
The total funding available under the programme is EUR 41,508,236. The minimum grant amount is EUR 1,000,000 for UNESCO World Heritage-related projects in specified locations and EUR 850,000 for other projects. The maximum grant amount is EUR 5,000,000 for UNESCO-related projects and EUR 3,000,000 for other eligible projects.
