Deadline Date: June 01, 2026
The National Indigenous Australians Agency is inviting applications for the Healing for Strong Families – Ngukurr grant to support culturally‑led healing services in the Northern Territory, aimed at organisations that can work with community members to strengthen identity, safety, and resilience through the Ngukurr Healing Model.
The program supports healing approaches that integrate First Nations healing methodologies with relevant therapeutic practices. Key priorities include strengthening community trust and participation, embedding cultural protocols and First Nations knowledge systems into service delivery, addressing the impacts of colonisation, and supporting long-term healing outcomes through relationship-building, adaptive practice, and ongoing community engagement. The grant also focuses on culturally competent service delivery and participatory approaches that respond directly to community feedback and local needs.
Applicants must have an Australian Business Number, be registered for GST, maintain an account with an Australian financial institution, and, if applying as an individual, be a permanent resident of Australia. Eligible entities include Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander corporations registered under the CATSI Act, companies incorporated in Australia, incorporated associations, incorporated cooperatives, organisations established under Commonwealth or state or territory legislation, Australian government bodies, incorporated trustees, partnerships, joint consortia applications with an eligible lead organisation, and individuals with an ABN. Applicants must respond directly to the Healing Model attached to the grant opportunity, and failure to address it will result in the application not being accepted. Required application materials include the online application form, supporting attachments, and responses to eligibility and assessment criteria.
The total funding available under the opportunity is AUD $16,560,000, with individual grants ranging from AUD $1,680,000 to AUD $2,820,000. The maximum grant period is up to three years from execution or until June 30, 2028, whichever occurs earlier. Successful applicants must complete their projects by June 30, 2028.
Applications will be assessed through an open competitive selection process. Applicants are required to demonstrate strong local relationships and community readiness, cultural competence, organisational capability, and commitment to delivering long-term outcomes. The application process requires submission through GrantConnect along with all requested documentation and attachments.
The National Indigenous Australians Agency may request further details regarding entities or key personnel and may seek clarification on submitted information, although additional information that alters the application will not be accepted after the deadline.
