The Business Reports for SMEs Grant Scheme seeks applications to help SMEs access external expertise for preparing business reports that enhance efficiency, decision-making, and overall competitiveness.
The key focus areas, of this scheme include support for SMEs through external consultancy services, preparation of Business Reports such as Business Plans or Process and Systems Reviews, enhancement of SME competitiveness and sustainable growth, and alignment with Policy Objective 1 under the SFC2021 Programme 2021–2027.
This grant scheme addresses the challenge faced by SMEs that often lack sufficient in-house resources and technical expertise to conduct detailed studies necessary for strategic investment decisions. It enables enterprises to outsource professional services to develop essential reports that support better planning and operational improvement.
The scheme specifically supports the development of business reports that help enterprises assess investment opportunities and improve internal processes, with the goal of increasing efficiency and strengthening overall market competitiveness.
It operates under Policy Objective 1, which promotes entrepreneurship and encourages the economic exploitation of new ideas, as well as the creation and development of new firms. It also aligns with the specific objective of enhancing sustainable growth, competitiveness, and job creation within SMEs.
The scheme is supported through non-repayable grants that part-finance the cost of external consultancy services engaged to prepare the required reports. These services must directly contribute to improving business performance or strategic planning capabilities.
The Business Reports for SMEs Grant Scheme will remain operational until 31st December 2026, subject to the availability of funds. The total initial allocated budget for the scheme is €1,500,000, with €1,350,000 allocated from 1st January 2024.
The scheme is open to micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises engaged in economic activity, regardless of legal form, provided they meet eligibility requirements. Enterprises without a separate legal personality must be registered under the Second Schedule of the Civil Code.
