Open Call: Emerging Technology Commercialisation Fund 2026 (Australia)

The focus areas of the program include progressing emerging technology innovations toward commercial deployment, improving commercial viability and investment readiness, and generating long-term economic benefits by scaling jobs, capabilities, and competitive advantages in priority areas such as local manufacturing, housing, and net zero.

The ETCF is an open competitive fund designed to address market gaps that limit the ability to translate innovation into economic growth. By supporting projects along the Technology Readiness Level (TRL) pathway, the program helps de-risk emerging technologies and move them closer to commercial deployment. It also enhances the ability of recipients to generate early revenue and attract further private investment, contributing to a stronger and more dynamic innovation ecosystem in New South Wales.

The program provides grants ranging from $500,000 to $2,000,000 and is administered by the Office of the Chief Scientist and Engineer. Eligible applicants must be for-profit entities incorporated in Australia, including Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander corporations, with headquarters in New South Wales and a majority of employees based in the state. Applicants must also meet specific financial and operational criteria, including revenue limits, ownership of intellectual property or exclusive licensing rights, and not being publicly listed or a subsidiary of another company.

Projects supported under the fund must be at Technology Readiness Levels 3 to 7 at the time of application and aim to progress an existing prototype or proof-of-concept in physical, biological, or life sciences innovations. Projects are expected to be completed within two years and must not have received prior funding for the same activities. Through this support, the ETCF plays a critical role in advancing innovation from early-stage development to market-ready solutions.
