The City of Toronto is requesting grant applications to helps small businesses improve the look and usability of curb lane cafés, sidewalk patios, and outdoor commercial spaces through targeted funding.
Focus areas, include enhancing the vitality and success of small retail businesses, improving main streets and neighbourhoods, boosting economic prosperity for residents and communities, and upgrading exterior spaces associated with commercial and industrial properties.
The grant covers up to one-half of the costs of eligible property or site improvements, with a maximum funding amount of $5,000 based on a minimum of $10,000 of improvements. Eligible funding can include patio enhancements on private property as well as improvements to spaces on public property for which a valid permit has been issued.
Eligibility for the CaféTO Grant extends to owners and tenants of street-level commercial and industrial properties in Toronto who wish to improve the appearance and function of their exterior spaces. Places of worship, institutional buildings, and residential buildings are not eligible for the program.
This initiative aims to provide tangible support to small businesses, enabling them to create more attractive and functional spaces that enhance customer experience and contribute to the overall vibrancy of Toronto’s streets and neighbourhoods.
