Deadline Date: March 16, 2026
The LAC AI Accelerator is requesting applications to support the development and implementation of artificial intelligence use cases, with a particular focus on agentic AI, throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.
The program identifies high-potential projects through an open call and assists teams in validating their AI solutions, providing governments with the evidence needed to decide whether to scale or discontinue initiatives. By sharing lessons and best practices, the accelerator aims to enable replication and scaling of effective AI applications throughout the region, ultimately fostering more innovative, efficient, and inclusive digital governments.
Participating teams, called Digital Service Teams, receive comprehensive support throughout the design and testing of their AI solutions. This includes an institutional maturity assessment to evaluate AI readiness, strategic advisory for selecting appropriate AI models, and technical mentorship to troubleshoot and test solutions. Teams also gain access to specialized training on AI fundamentals, ethical principles, and data governance, with certificates of completion issued by the World Bank Group. Networking and knowledge-sharing opportunities, including participation in the World Bank Digital Summit, further enhance collaboration and visibility of their innovations.
The accelerator is open to multi-disciplinary teams from public or private sector entities, civil society organizations, and academia across the LAC region. Teams should have expertise both in AI technologies and in the specific development challenges they aim to address. Use cases should fall within one of three categories: digital government services, public sector efficiency, or policy design and delivery. While alignment with the World Bank Group’s priority sectors—such as infrastructure, agribusiness, health, manufacturing, and tourism—is encouraged, projects from any domain that fit the eligible categories are welcome.
All participating teams must have the support of a public digital authority at the national, state, or local level, demonstrated via a commitment letter signed by the relevant authority. In cases where multiple authorities are involved, the proposal may include more than one sponsoring organization. This requirement ensures that AI solutions are aligned with governmental priorities and have the necessary backing for effective implementation and potential scaling.
