Deadline Date: March 16, 2026
The Prototype Grant provides up to $10,000 to support significant development work that illustrates core gameplay and key differentiators of a game in comparison to market competitors.
The program focuses on supporting premium and free-to-play games, live-ops development, and entertainment games for a mass audience, enabling applicants to bring innovative and competitive game concepts closer to market readiness.
This grant offers a valuable opportunity for game developers in the Northern Territory to showcase innovative projects, secure essential early-stage funding, and position their games competitively in the market.
Individuals must be Australian citizens and Northern Territory residents over the age of 18, while companies must be Northern Territory-based, except in specific co-production arrangements. Applicants and key creative team members must not be in default with any obligations under prior arrangements with Screen Territory or other Northern Territory Government agencies and must always act in good faith in their dealings with Screen Territory. They must have the capacity, resources, and rights to carry out the project, and the project must align with the purpose and guidelines of the program. Broadcasters, employees of broadcasters, Northern Territory Government employees with conflicts of interest, and students at tertiary film, television, or interactive digital media courses are not eligible. Applicants with outstanding acquittals or unfulfilled contractual obligations are ineligible unless an alternative arrangement is agreed with Screen Territory.
Applications must include one-page CVs and bios for the applicant and key creative team members, chain of title documents, and a 10-page Creative Pitch covering title and introduction, gameplay mechanics, visual overview, progression, audio, and team summary. A detailed project plan is also required, outlining platform release, revenue generation, audience plan, competitor and market analysis, evidence of interested distributors or publishers, licenses, approvals, development kits, company details, a development timeline with key milestones, a budget including Northern Territory expenditure, and stipulated deliverables.
