6th Call for Common Project Proposals: Strengthening SMEs, Climate Action, and Healthcare

This initiative provides a unique opportunity for institutions from Greece and Italy to collaborate on projects that address common challenges, create innovative solutions, and enhance the economic and social cohesion of the border regions.

The Call focuses on three core priorities: growth and competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), climate change mitigation and adaptation, and improvements in healthcare systems. Projects are expected to contribute to the achievement of Programme objectives, generate measurable impact in the Greece-Italy area, and exploit untapped growth potential while supporting sustainable development in line with EU strategies.

The funding opportunity is divided into two parts. Part A targets SO1.3 – Growth and Competitiveness of SMEs, with a total budget of €2,500,000. Part B focuses on SO2.4 – Climate Change and SO4.5 – Healthcare, with a total budget of €6,500,000. The EU contribution rate for both parts is 75%, with beneficiaries responsible for providing the remaining 25% as co-financing, which can be public or private. Projects must be completed within a maximum of 24 months from the signing of the Subsidy Contract. Projects that began implementation after January 1, 2021, must not have been concluded before submission.

Eligible applicants include national, regional, or local public bodies; bodies governed by public law; non-profit organizations founded under private law; registered international organizations that meet non-profit criteria; and European Groupings of Territorial Cooperation (EGTC) registered in one of the participating countries. Private companies aiming to generate profit are not eligible. Each beneficiary may submit up to two project proposals across both Part A and Part B, and proposals must clearly align with the Programme’s specific objectives and intervention fields.

Part A encourages projects that stimulate entrepreneurship, enhance SME competitiveness, and foster innovation in business practices. Part B seeks projects that address pressing climate change challenges, improve environmental resilience, and strengthen healthcare services in cross-border regions. All projects are expected to contribute directly to the Programme’s indicators and have tangible benefits for the communities in the Greece-Italy border area.

This call represents a strategic opportunity for institutions to cooperate, share knowledge, and develop solutions that have long-term regional impact. By participating, beneficiaries contribute to the overall objectives of the Interreg Programme, support sustainable growth, and reinforce the cross-border partnership between Greece and Italy.
