Deadline Date: January 13, 2026
The Dutch Film Fund invites applications to support the realization of Dutch minority co-productions in the categories of short animation and research & experiment.
The focus of this opportunity is to support distinctive, artistic minority co-productions, high artistic quality film plans with substantial creative and technical input from film professionals from the Netherlands, short animation films with a maximum duration of 60 minutes, and productions within research & experimentation that are groundbreaking, investigative, experimental, or artistic, including immersive or interactive artistic media productions. This program is designed to strengthen international co-production by enabling artistic and financial collaboration that sharpens the creator’s artistic vision and provides a broader financial base for film projects. Through international cooperation, the scheme promotes professional expertise, creative exchange, and enhances the international visibility of Dutch film, Dutch film professionals, and the Dutch film industry, while offering creators greater opportunities to break through in the international market.
The scheme is specifically aimed at Dutch co-producers of Dutch minority film plans for short animated films and productions in the research & experiment category. Eligible film plans must demonstrate strong artistic ambition and meaningful creative and technical contributions from the Netherlands. Funding under this scheme supports the realization phase of selected projects, with applicants able to request a contribution of up to €50,000. This financial support is intended to help bring high-quality minority co-productions to completion.
Applications may be submitted by a production company that is a legal entity, established for at least two years in the Kingdom of the Netherlands, a member state of the European Union, the European Economic Area, or Switzerland, and that continuously produces and exploits films and other audiovisual productions. The production company must be represented by the Dutch minority co-producer, who as majority producer has been primarily responsible for at least one free animation production in the Netherlands for short animation applications, or at least one free, non-commissioned production in the Netherlands for research & experiment applications.
