The Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) is inviting applications for its Incubation Programme to support technology startups to develop their first solutions through early stage technical builds, market exploration and business development.
The focus areas, of this opportunity include early stage technical builds, market exploration and business development, funding and R&D support, mentorship, investor matching, account management, technical support, business support, and financial support. HKSTP’s Incubation Programme is a three-year programme designed to help technology startups transform innovative ideas into market-ready solutions. The programme provides comprehensive support to address the challenges faced by startups in developing world-changing products and scaling their operations. Participating startups receive dedicated account management, with an assigned account manager accompanying them throughout their startup journey. Technical support includes access to world-class equipment, software and laboratory facilities supported by a dedicated team of engineers and experts, as well as opportunities to partner with industry leaders such as Fujitsu, ASTRI and Rohde & Schwarz for R&D needs, licensing, joint ventures and library services.
The maximum funding support for an Incubatee throughout the three-year Programme term is HK$1,290,000, subject to change at the sole discretion of HKSTP. The funding includes a financial subsidy in the form of a cash grant and a rental subsidy for HKSTP’s leased area. The cash grant support amounts to HK$140,000 in the first year under IncuHatch, HK$420,000 in the second year under IncuBoost, and HK$280,000 in the third year under IncuBoost, with a total maximum of HK$840,000. In addition, rental subsidy support is provided at HK$150,000 per year for each of the three years, totaling a maximum of HK$450,000, equivalent to HK$12,500 per month over the full programme duration. Any unspent balance of the rental subsidy from the first and second programme years may be carried forward to the third year of the Programme.
The programme also delivers extensive business support by connecting startups with experienced mentors, industry experts, strategic partners and investors through events. Startups can build their teams and scale their businesses through HKSTP’s value services platform, which offers training, professional services and talent support, along with market exposure through trade missions, exhibitions, product launches, press releases and media interviews.
Eligible applicants must be technology start-up companies limited by shares and incorporated in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, with a date of incorporation no more than five years prior to application. Applicants must not be current participants in other incubation programmes offered by HKSTP or Cyberport, and their activities must relate to technology areas such as Electronics, Information and Communications Technology, Material and Precision Engineering or Green Technology. Additional requirements apply regarding founder shareholding, staffing levels, use of approved space, and the primary focus on R&D activities.
