The IIITB COMET Foundation — a Technology Innovation Hub based at IIIT Bangalore — is currently offering a range of opportunities for innovators, startups and researchers working in cutting-edge communication technologies.
COMET focuses on Advanced Communication Systems and aims to accelerate the development and deployment of next-generation wireless communications. The foundation supports research and technology development, translational research in collaboration with industry, entrepreneurial development for startups and innovators, and skill development programs in wireless, embedded systems and IoT.
Interested innovators and entrepreneurs are invited to build solutions for 5G infrastructure and next-generation applications through programmes like COMET’s 5G Startup Incubation Program and EiR (Early-stage Innovator) initiatives. These provide access to 5G R&D labs, industry-relevant mentorship, incubation support to take an idea from proof-of-concept to prototype and product, and grant/seed-money support.
COMET also supports academic and professional development: for example, a Certificate Program in Future Wireless Communications has been launched, targeting students and early-career engineers who wish to build skills in 5G-NR systems, embedded design, and wireless communication aligned with global standards.
Through its ecosystem of research labs, industry partnerships, and startup incubation, COMET aims to foster innovation in areas like vendor-neutral RAN, 5G/6G core network technologies, reconfigurable intelligent surfaces, UAV/drone communications, radar for drone detection, and other frontier wireless technologies.
